Namie Amuro

Namie Amuro (安室奈美恵; born 1977-09-20 in Naha, Japan) is a retired Japanese singer and performer. After training at Okinawa Actors School, she began national activities in 1992. In the 1990s, she first rose to prominence as a member of Super Monkeys; she then built a solo career in Japan across J-pop, contemporary R&B, and dance-pop. Her major releases include Sweet 19 Blues, Concentration 20, Queen of Hip-Pop, Best Fiction, and Finally. Over time, her music moved from youthful pop toward a more mature sound shaped by pop, R&B, dance music, and club-oriented production. She also sang the InuYasha endings "Come" and "Four Seasons", the Pokémon ending "Toi et Moi", and the One Piece openings "Fight Together" and "Hope". Amuro retired from the entertainment industry in 2018.
