Biography
moumoon is a Japanese pop duo formed in 2005 by vocalist and lyricist Yuka and composer Kousuke Masaki. They debuted in 2006 with the single "Flowers/Pride" and the mini-album Flowers, introducing the soft, melodic pop sound that would come to define their early releases. The name moumoon combines the French word "mou" and the English word "moon," a phrase the duo interprets as "Soft Moon."
In 2007, after leaving Gate Records, moumoon signed with Avex Trax and released the mini-album Love Me? the same year. That move marked an important step in their career, giving them a larger platform while preserving the qualities that had already set them apart: clear songwriting, polished production, and the balance between Yuka’s vocals and Masaki’s compositions.
Across their catalog, moumoon has continued to stand out for refined J-pop built on gentle melodies, understated arrangements, and a warm, accessible sense of pop craftsmanship. Rather than relying on loud gestures, their music focuses on subtle textures and memorable hooks, creating a sound that feels intimate while still carefully produced.
