Mayo Suzukaze

Mayo Suzukaze (涼風真世, born September 11, 1960) is a Japanese actress, singer, voice actress, and former Takarazuka Revue star from Ishinomaki, Japan. Active since 1981, she joined the Takarazuka Revue after graduating from the Takarazuka Music School and was assigned to Moon Troupe. In 1990, she became its Top Star. Among her Takarazuka roles, the best-known was Oscar François de Jarjayes in the 1991 Moon Troupe production of The Rose of Versailles. She left the company in 1993 after "Grand Hotel". After leaving Takarazuka, she continued working in stage productions, screen roles, and singing. She took leading parts in Toho musicals such as "Carousel", "SHE LOVES ME", and "42nd STREET". From 1996 to 1998, she voiced Himura Kenshin in "Rurouni Kenshin" and also performed "Namida wa Shitteiru", the ED of "Rurouni Kenshin". Her later stage work includes Jane in "The Witches of Eastwick", which brought her the 13th Japan Movie Critics Awards Musical Award in 2003; the lead in the world premiere of "Marie Antoinette" in 2006; Elisabeth in "Elisabeth" in 2008; Claire in "The Visit" in 2015 and 2016; and Sophie in the 2016 new production of the same musical. In 2026, Suzukaze marked 45 years in show business with special Billboard Live performances, including a January concert in Yokohama and a four-year return to Billboard Live Osaka in July. The Yokohama show featured different song selections for each stage. She also appeared as a guest on the expanded 90-minute edition of Yoshio no Myu in March 2026, and her 2025 Billboard Live Yokohama concert was streamed on Rakuten TV.
