Biography

Mafumafu (浅田健太; born October 18, 1991, in Tokyo) is a Japanese utaite, singer, producer, and mixer whose work spans J-pop and singer-songwriter music. Active since December 2010, he began by posting songs on Nico Nico Douga, then went on to produce original VOCALOID material under the Mafumafu name. In his solo career, he started as a producer of VOCALOID originals and later performed "Sacrifice (サクリファイス)," the OP of "Katsute Kami Datta Kemono-tachi e". He has been associated with NBCUniversal Entertainment Japan LLC. He also plays piano, guitar, and bass, and often mixes songs for other utaite. His singing is known for a middle-high voice and an expressive performance style that uses vocal effects and, when a song calls for them, loud screams. His range has also been described as ryouseirui, and he has been tagged kakuseirui (覚声類, lit. energizing voice). His cover of Matryoshka is a well-known example of his female-voice singing. After collaborating with fellow utaite Soraru, he formally formed the duo After the Rain with him in 2016.
