Ling Tosite Sigure

Ling Tosite Sigure is a Japanese indie rock trio formed in Saitama in 2002. The band grew out of a previous university group that TK (Toru Kitajima) and 345 (Miyoko Nakamura) continued after. When they launched Ling Tosite Sigure, 345 moved from guitar and vocals to bass and vocals, while TK shifted from guitar to guitar and vocals. In 2004, drummer NodaMEN left and Pierre (Masatoshi Nakano, ピエール中野) joined, establishing the current lineup: TK on guitar and vocals, 345 on bass and vocals, and Pierre on drums. Their music combines indie rock, j-rock, post-hardcore, progressive rock, alternative rock, and math rock. It is marked by intense arrangements and technical precision, with abrupt changes of tempo and mood, intricate guitar work, dynamic drumming, and both male and female vocals. Songs often move between delicate melodic passages and explosive outbursts, and the interplay of the three members is central to the trio’s tightly arranged sound. The band released its first album, "#4," on the self-run Nakano Records in November 2005. It followed with the mini-album "Feeling your UFO" in July 2006 and the album "Inspiration is DEAD" on August 22, 2007. After issuing the single "Telecastic fake show" in 2008, Ling Tosite Sigure made its major-label debut on Sony Music Associated Records with "moment A rhythm" on December 24, 2008, and released "just A moment" in 2009. In May 2010, the trio played its first overseas show at The Great Escape in Brighton. Later that year, "still a Sigure virgin?" reached number one on the Oricon album chart after its release on September 22, 2010. Ling Tosite Sigure later performed the Psycho-Pass openings "abnormalize," "Enigmatic Feeling," and "Who What Who What," while TK’s solo song "unravel," credited under TK from Ling Tosite Sigure, became the opening theme for Tokyo Ghoul. The fifth studio album, "i'mperfect," followed on April 10, 2013.
