Hitomi Takahashi

Hitomi Takahashi (高橋瞳, born April 8, 1989) is a Japanese singer from Shiogama, Miyagi Prefecture. She was initially more interested in dancing than singing, and her move toward singing began in 2003 after a friend encouraged her to try karaoke as part of her dance practice. In the summer of 2004, during her third year of junior high school, she applied for the Sony Music Auditions and became a finalist in the Sony Music SD audition (Vo-che3) from about 20,000 applicants. Contemporary profiles listed her height as 147 cm (4'7"). Signed to Sony Music Entertainment Japan, she made her major debut on April 13, 2005 with "Bokutachi no Yukue," whose recording began at the end of 2004 and which was used for "GUNDAM SEED DESTINY." The single opened at number one on the Oricon chart, making her the first singer born in the Heisei era to reach the top spot. She later performed "Aozora no Namida (青空のナミダ)" for "Blood+" and the "Gintama" endings "Candy Line" and "Wo Ai Ni." After leaving Sony in 2011, she joined WUJA BIN BIN as a vocalist, later sang Heart's Cry's "New World" on the EP 『STGCC×MOtOLOiD』, and collaborated with ヒゲドライバー on "God bless you" for the BEMANI game 『REFLEC BEAT VOLZZA』. She graduated from 宮城県塩竈女子高等学校 and moved to Tokyo in 2008 after commuting between Miyagi and Tokyo during her school years.
