Biography
Hiroki Nanami is a Japanese former Takarazuka Revue actress, singer, and voice actress whose career has moved from the stage to music, anime, and radio. Known by the nickname Kai, she was born in Higashi-ibaraki, Ibaraki Prefecture, and chose her stage name with her family. Her personal profile also reflects a strong connection to performance and pop culture: she is 173 cm tall, has blood type O, and has said that she enjoys fruit, especially mandarin oranges, curry, and umeboshi. Her favorite flowers include calla lilies, baby's breath, and roses, while her favorite colors are black, blue, and orange. She likes reading and watching DVDs, collects anime DVD box sets, and can play the trumpet.
Nanami retired from the Takarazuka Revue in 2019, and three months later announced that she had signed with Andstir entertainment and the King Records music label. That move marked the beginning of her post-Takarazuka career as a recording artist and voice performer. She made her artist debut with her first mini album, Galaxy, which was supported by a one-man live show with a four-concert run in Tokyo and Osaka. At the same time, she announced her seiyuu debut as Shizuno in Somali and the Forest Spirit, bringing her Takarazuka experience into anime voice acting.
Her post-stage work also includes theatre and public service. On November 8, 2019, Nanami was appointed a cultural ambassador for Ibaraki Prefecture, reflecting her ties to her home region. Her first theatrical performance after Takarazuka was the title role of Red in Red and Bear, an original musical, showing that her career continued to balance live theatre with music and voice work.
Beyond those projects, Nanami has remained active as a media personality. She hosts a weekly radio show on Tokyo FM and appears on a television program on Takarazuka Skystage. She has said that she loves every role she has received, especially Wolfgang Mittermeyer from Legend of the Galactic Heroes @ Takarazuka and Victor Laszlo from the Casablanca shinjin kouen. Her dreams of becoming a Takarazuka actress and a voice actress have both come true, making her a distinctive name for fans of Japanese stage performance, anime voice acting, and musical theatre.
