Helck begins three months after a human hero defeats the Demon King, while mankind celebrates what should have been a decisive victory. In the demon world, however, the king's death leaves the realm in uncertainty, and a tournament is convened to choose his successor before the country falls apart. The competition is overseen by Vermilio, the hot-headed yet formidable member of the Four Heavenly Kings, who immediately distrusts one contestant above all others: Helck, a human hero who openly claims to hate humanity. His overwhelming strength and easy popularity make him impossible to dismiss, even as Vermilio grows more determined to uncover what he is really after.
As the tournament continues, the crisis widens beyond the arena. Reports emerge that humans have vanished from various towns, and the fall of Urum Castle raises disturbing questions about the balance between the human world and the demon world. Vermilio watches Helck's every move, pushing harder to expose his true intentions and force him into a mistake, while Helck travels with the strange winged creature Piwi and other would-be successors. What starts as a contest for the throne gradually becomes a larger struggle over where Helck's loyalty truly lies before the demon world is put in even greater danger.
