Hilcrhyme

Hilcrhyme is a Japanese hip-hop duo from Niigata that formed in 2004 around rapper TOC and DJ KATSU, and they have released music through Universal Music LLC. Their sound combines smooth, melodic production with direct, emotionally detailed lyrics, giving the group a reflective style that sits between hip-hop and mainstream J-pop. Hilcrhyme often writes about youth, romance, distance, and everyday feelings, and that storytelling approach has helped them reach listeners beyond Japan’s core rap audience. The duo first drew wider attention with 'Shounen,' one of the songs most closely tied to their breakthrough, and they continued to build a recognizable identity through albums and singles shaped by clear songwriting, accessible arrangements, and a strong sense of atmosphere. Their work helped establish them as one of the better-known names in contemporary Japanese hip-hop. In 2025, Hilcrhyme also provided the ending song for Sword of the Demon Hunter: Kijin Gentosho, giving anime fans another clear entry point into the duo’s catalog.
