HEY-SMITH is a Japanese ska punk and melodic hardcore band from Osaka, formed in 2006 in Toyonaka, Osaka Prefecture. The group combines guitars and drums with a full horn section. Its music mixes ska rhythms, hardcore energy, punk rock, and fast melodic hooks, often shifting between aggressive verses and bright singalong choruses. From the start, the band has been especially active live, playing more than 150 shows a year.
HEY-SMITH began live activity in February 2006. Its recording debut came in 2009 with the 1st Mini Album "Proud and Loud" on CAFFEINE BOMB ORGANICS. The band then released the full albums "14-Fourteen-" in 2010, "Free Your Mind" in 2011, and "Now Album" in 2013. "Free Your Mind" reached No. 1 on the Oricon Indies chart, while "Now Album" entered the overall Oricon chart at No. 10.
Alongside those releases, the band appeared at THE FEST 2011 in Florida and organized OSAKA HAZIKETEMAZARE FESTIVAL from 2010. In 2012, it released the single "Download Me If You can/Goodbye To Say Hello" and then completed a tour of all 47 prefectures in Japan. In anime, HEY-SMITH performed "Say My Name," the ending theme for "Tokyo Revengers".
