GLAY

GLAY is a Japanese rock band from Hakodate, Hokkaido. It was formed in 1988 by guitarist Takuro and vocalist Teru while they were still in high school. The band’s lineup consists of Teru on vocals, Takuro and Hisashi on guitar, and Jiro on bass. Takuro is widely identified as the group’s leader and primary songwriter. From the start, GLAY built its sound on melodic pop sensibilities and a solid rock foundation, while also incorporating reggae and gospel elements. Their songs often combine memorable hooks and layered arrangements with a mainstream-friendly approach and the energy associated with Japanese rock. By the late 2000s, GLAY had sold tens of millions of records. The band also contributed several anime theme songs. For Diamond no Ace, they performed the openings "Hashire! Mirai (疾走れ！ミライ)", "HEROES", and "Sora ga Aozora de aru Tame ni (空が青空であるために)". They also performed "Deathtopia (デストピア)" for Kuromukuro. In 2025, GLAY performed the opening song for Record of Ragnarok Season 3.
