GIRLFRIEND was a Japanese all-female rock band from Osaka, formed in 2015. Originally a trio, it became a four-piece when NAGISA joined SAKIKA, MINA, and MIREI. Its lineup was built around SAKIKA on vocals and guitar, NAGISA on guitar, MINA on bass, and MIREI on drums. The band was affiliated with TV Asahi Music and released music through avex trax.
In its first year, GIRLFRIEND built stage experience, then held a one-man live in Osaka in March 2016, about a year after forming. In June 2016, it began regular appearances on "musicる TV". That August, the band made its indie debut with the mini-album "Hello", followed by its major debut that November with the songs "15" and "Hide&Seek", both used as ending themes for "Sousei no Onmyouji".
In 2018, GIRLFRIEND released its first major album, "CHOCOLATE", and supported it with the national tour "GIRLFRIEND％ JAPAN TOUR 2018 〜CHOCOLATE〜". It also performed "sky＆blue" as the opening theme for "Black Clover". GIRLFRIEND later announced its disbandment on its official website and ended activities on April 30, 2021.
