EDISON

EDISON, also known as Edison Watanabe (エジソン渡辺; born February 14, 1949), is a Japanese composer, arranger, 3D sound designer, and shinobue player. A full member of 日本音楽著作権協会, he has worked on songs for singers, commercials, television, stage, film, and club music. From 1986, he served as an advisor on AKAI synthesizers and samplers. He contributed to the sound development of the Sampler S-612 and S900, and produced the MG1212 system, which contributed to hip-hop and breakbeats. He also provided sound production for 秋川雅史's "千の風になって," which sold 1.3 million copies. Alongside this work, he has been active with his chill-out unit AMBROZIA, whose recordings have been used on overseas compilation albums. In screen and stage music, EDISON worked on Black Lagoon, including the ending themes "Don't Look Behind" and "When Johnny Comes Marching Home." He also worked on Hells Angels, NHK Eテレ's わしも, the film Zatoichi, and the Broadway musical Peter Pan. His shinobue and sound-design work has also continued in other formats. He released the CD "篠笛で聴く癒しのクラシック" through 日本コロムビア, performs shinobue arrangements on the YouTube channel 奏王, and publishes original 3D sound design work as Immersive Deep Trance Project using 鹿島建設's OPSODIS1 speaker.
