Biography

Duffy, born Amie Anne Duffy on 23 June 1984 in Bangor, is a Welsh singer, songwriter, and actress from the United Kingdom whose music draws on soul, blues, and pop. She began performing with local bands in Nefyn at 15, finished second on the Welsh television talent show Wawffactor in 2003, and released a three-track EP in 2004 while working as a waitress and at a fish shop. After contributing to Mint Royale's "See You in the Morning", she moved to Crouch End and began working with Bernard Butler. Her first album, "Rockferry", was released in March 2008 and reached No. 1 on the UK Albums Chart; its song "Distant Dreamer" later served as an ending theme for "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure". In 2010 she made her film debut in "Patagonia" and released her second album, "Endlessly", which reached No. 9 in the United Kingdom. She announced an indefinite break from music in February 2011, returned briefly in 2015 for the film "Legend" and its soundtrack, and said in 2020 that her long absence followed a kidnapping. After stepping away from public life for many years, she returned to headlines in June 2026 when Yahoo reported that she had announced her first live concert in 15 years. On July 6, 2026, Yahoo also published photographs of her in London after 16 years out of the public eye.
