Daisuke Hasegawa

Daisuke Hasegawa is a Japanese guitarist, singer-songwriter, singer, and composer born on February 15, 1982, best known as a member of Aqua Timez. In the band, he is associated with its melodic rock sound and with the guitar parts that help shape its emotional, vocal-driven arrangements. He has been active since 2009. During high school, he sang in Machida’s Sounds of JOY Gospel Choir. After graduating, he spent a year in Texas studying English, and he later worked as an assistant to Yugo Kanno. In 2014, he sang "Gの閃光," the ending theme of ガンダム Gのレコンギスタ. He first recorded the song as a demo vocal, then Yoshiyuki Tomino chose him for the final version. He also sang the insert song "ハイフン・スタッカート" in the series. In 2016, he performed "Great Days" for ジョジョの奇妙な冒険～ダイヤモンドは砕けない～ in a duet with Karen Aoki. He also sang the クラシカロイド insert song "情熱について語るべき2、3の真実～田園より～," arranged by Tomoyasu Hotei. His chorus work includes contributions to drama, anime, and film soundtracks, including "昼顔" and "東京タラレバ娘." Since April 2016, he has also composed music for the NHK松山放送局 news program "ひめポン！" Since April 2017, he has composed for "NHKニュースおはよう日本." Through Aqua Timez, Hasegawa is tied to a project that reached a broad audience in Japan and also connected with anime fans through the group’s anime-related tie-ins. That place in the wider J-pop and anime music landscape is important, because guitar-driven band music often overlaps with opening and ending themes, and Aqua Timez became part of that crossover. Hasegawa is primarily recognized for his work inside the band rather than as a solo artist, but his role remains central to Aqua Timez’s lineup and to the identity of its signature sound.
