CoCo

CoCo was a Japanese pop idol group formed on September 6, 1989, and signed to Pony Canyon. Built around dance-pop, hi-NRG, and idol kayō, the group paired polished harmonies with bright, upbeat arrangements that fit both mainstream J-pop and anime tie-ins. Its lineup included 瀬能あづさ, 羽田惠理香, 三浦理恵子, 宮前真樹, and 大野幹代. For anime listeners, CoCo is especially remembered for its connection to Ranma 1/2, which placed the group firmly within the classic era of anison. The group’s catalog reflects the energetic idol sound of the late 1980s and early 1990s, when catchy choruses and clean production helped pop acts reach audiences through television as well as radio.
