The Bangles

The Bangles are an American all-female pop rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1981. Built around Susanna Hoffs, Debbi Peterson, Vicki Peterson, Michael Steele, and Annette Zilinskas, the group emerged from the California guitar scene. Their sound, established on their early releases on I.R.S. Records, was shaped by jangly guitars, tight vocal harmonies, bright melodies, and a crisp, guitar-led edge at the crossroads of jangle pop, paisley underground, and pop. In the 1980s, they reached mainstream success with "Manic Monday," "Walk Like an Egyptian," and "Eternal Flame," along with other hits including "If She Knew What She Wants," "Hazy Shade of Winter," and "In Your Room." "Walk Like an Egyptian" was later used as the ending theme of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. The band has remained active since 1981.
