BACK-ON

BACK-ON is a Japanese rock band from Tokyo formed in 2002. Originally created by the childhood friends TEEDA, KENJI03, Shu, Gori, and MACCHIN, the group developed a style that blends j-rock, rap rock, and rock, combining melodic hooks, heavy guitars, and hip-hop-influenced vocals. BACK-ON released music through Avex Trax, and over its history the band has included Gori, Shu, KENJI03, TEEDA, Icchan, and MACCHIN. After MACCHIN left, Icchan joined in 2007 and later departed in 2011; Shu and Gori left in 2017, after which BACK-ON continued as the duo of TEEDA and KENJI03 with support drums. BACK-ON became closely associated with anime, games, and television through songs such as the Air Gear opening "Chain," the Eyeshield 21 opening "BLAZE LINE" and endings "A day dreaming..." and "Flower," contributions tied to Gundam Build Fighters, and "STRIKE BACK" for Fairy Tail. Outside the band name, they also collaborated with GReeeeN's JIN in BAReeeeeeeeeeN, whose 2008 single "足跡" reached No. 7 on the Oricon weekly singles chart. BACK-ON's own 15th single "セルリアン/Silent Trigger" became their first weekly Oricon Top 10 release under the BACK-ON name in 2014, and the 16th single "CHEMY×STORY" reached No. 5 in 2024.
