Yuusha Kei ni Shosu

Sentenced to Be a Hero is set in a world where being named a hero is not an honor but a punishment. The title is reserved for the worst criminals, who are pushed to the front lines of an endless war against the Demon Lords and forced to fight, die, and be revived over and over as expendable military assets. In this brutal system, "heroes" are not celebrated saviors but convicts expected to survive through obedience, endurance, and sheer will. The story follows Xylo Forbartz, a former Holy Knight commander placed in charge of Penal Hero Unit 9004, a squad of prisoners branded as Heroes by the nation they serve. During one mission, Xylo encounters Teoritta, a living weapon known as a Goddess, and that meeting pulls the unit into a struggle far larger than a single battlefield. As the war widens around them, Xylo and the convicts under his command must confront the system that condemned them, the role they have been assigned, and the meaning of sacrifice in a conflict built on punishment and rebirth.
