Kimi no Na wa. centers on Mitsuha Miyamizu, a high school girl who feels confined by her rural life and dreams of escaping the countryside for Tokyo, even imagining life there as a boy. In the city, Taki Tachibana is a busy high school student balancing school, a part-time job, and his hopes for a future in architecture. Their ordinary routines are shattered when Mitsuha wakes up in Taki's body and Taki finds himself living Mitsuha's quiet hometown life, forcing each of them to adapt to unfamiliar schools, families, friends, and daily responsibilities.
As the body-swapping continues, Mitsuha and Taki begin to leave messages for one another and slowly piece together the strange phenomenon connecting them. The film builds its drama around confusion, distance, and the fragile routines they must master while trying to understand why their lives have become intertwined. Kimi no Na wa. blends romance, mystery, and coming-of-age emotion into a story where fate and circumstance gradually pull two strangers toward a bond that changes both of their worlds.
