Yesterday wo Utatte follows Rikuo Uozumi, a college graduate drifting through life in Tokyo and working at a convenience store as he settles into a future he never really planned. His routine changes when Haru Nonaka, an unpredictable young woman with a bird in tow, starts showing up at his job and pushing him to look beyond his own resignation. The situation becomes more complicated when Rikuo reconnects with Shinako Morinome, an old college friend and former crush who has returned to town.
As the three of them keep crossing paths, each carries something unfinished: Rikuo's uncertainty, Haru's loneliness, and Shinako's painful memories that keep her from accepting the feelings around her.
