Smoke, ash, and overflowing trash define everyday life for Yani, a catgirl whose dependence on cigarettes has swallowed her routine in Yani Neko. Her apartment is buried under cigarette butts and the clutter left behind by one failed attempt after another to straighten herself out. Each time she decides to quit, the cravings hit almost immediately and send her back to the same habits, turning what should be a simple act of self-improvement into a daily struggle with nicotine, bad habits, and the messy living space that comes with them.
The series builds its comedy around that relentless cycle. Yani wants to get her life together, but the pull of cigarettes keeps dragging her back into the same state of smoke and chaos, and her repeated attempts to change rarely last for long. Rather than offering a clean break or an easy fix, Yani Neko keeps its focus on the absurdity of a stubbornly unhealthy lifestyle that remains the center of the joke. The question hanging over Yani's day-to-day life is whether she can finally overcome her cravings or whether she is doomed to remain a chainsmoking slob forever.
