Wandance follows Kaboku "Kabo" Kotani, a first-year at Ichiran High School who wants nothing more than to move through school unnoticed. A stutter makes speaking up difficult, and after an embarrassing incident in middle school, he has kept dancing buried in the past. While his friends head for the basketball club, Kaboku keeps finding himself drawn to the dance club, even if the idea of joining still feels far beyond his reach.
Everything changes when he sees Hikari Wanda dancing. Wanda is not especially comfortable with words either, but on the dance floor she says exactly what she means, and that honesty strikes a chord with Kaboku. Her example gives him the courage to confront the memory that has held him back and to take his first real steps toward the club. With Wanda and his new clubmates beside him, Kaboku begins the slow work of improving his dancing, learning how to express himself more freely, and building the confidence to turn movement into a language of his own. Step by step, he discovers that dance can carry the feelings he has never been able to say aloud, and that the memories he gathers along the way may change his life.
