In Trickster, Kogorou Akechi is the founder of a private investigation firm known as the Boy Detectives' Club, where a group of young sleuths takes on cases both great and small. One of the club's junior members, Kensuke Hanasaki, is working on a case when he crosses paths with Yoshio Kobayashi, a mysterious boy with no memory who cannot die. Seeing Yoshio's strange ability in action, Kensuke makes him a bargain: join the Boy Detectives' Club, help them solve their cases, and in return he will find a way to help Yoshio die.
The apathetic Yoshio accepts grudgingly, not realizing how much his life is about to change. As he spends more time with Kensuke, Akechi, and the rest of the club, he gradually begins to acknowledge them as something more than useful allies, even as the team keeps taking on the cases that come their way. At the same time, they are drawn into a hidden conflict lurking in the shadows, one tied to The Fiend with Twenty Faces. Based on Edogawa Ranpo's Shounen Tanteidan, Trickster blends mystery, action, and character drama as the Boy Detectives' Club balances everyday investigations with a far more dangerous enemy.
