Skip to Loafer centers on Mitsumi Iwakura, a determined countryside girl who leaves her hometown for a prestigious high school in Tokyo, carrying with her a carefully mapped life plan and the certainty that she can handle whatever comes next. She dreams of bringing positive change to Japan, but the city quickly tests her confidence. On her first day, Mitsumi gets lost on the way to school and ends up late, where she meets Sousuke Shima, a fellow first-year in the same predicament. They arrive together, yet the morning still leaves Mitsumi with an awkward first impression in front of her classmates. From there, she has to navigate a new environment, learn how to fit in, and build relationships in a place where everyone seems to move at a different pace. At the heart of Skip to Loafer is the quiet connection that grows between Mitsumi and Sousuke, whose opposing personalities bring out unexpected sides of each other.
