Skip Beat! follows Kyouko Mogami, who spends years working multiple jobs to support her childhood friend, Shoutarou "Shou" Fuwa, as he climbs toward idol stardom. She gives him her loyalty, her time, and her confidence, believing that devotion will eventually be returned. That hope collapses when she overhears Shou dismissing her as nothing more than a maid he can depend on. Shocked and humiliated, Kyouko abandons the role she built around him and vows revenge by entering show business and surpassing the boy she once adored.
Once inside the entertainment industry, Kyouko discovers that revenge is only the beginning. Auditions, performances, and constant pressure expose the limits of the sheltered life she used to know. She has to learn how to act, how to compete, and how to survive in a business shaped by talent, image, and relentless ambition. Along the way, she meets people who challenge her, change the way she sees the industry, and force her to decide how far she is willing to go to reach the top.
