SK8 the Infinity follows Reki Kyan, a high school student whose life revolves around skateboarding and the high-stakes underground race known as “S,” a dangerous contest held inside a mine where skaters push their limits against one another. After a brutal loss leaves his skateboard destroyed and his arm broken, Reki is forced to step away from the scene he loves and watch from the sidelines. Everything changes when he meets Langa Hasegawa, his new classmate and a half-Canadian, half-Japanese boy with no skateboarding experience who is desperate for money. When the two are sent to “S” on an errand from Reki's boss, they are dragged into a bet that puts Langa on the course. As Reki tries to make sense of his mysterious transfer student classmate, he discovers that Langa has a trump card he knows nothing about, one that could help him win in the most unexpected way. From there, SK8 the Infinity builds a fast-moving world of rivalry, instinct, and trust, where the risks are real and every race can change the balance between friendship and competition.
