Senryuu Shoujo centers on Nanako Yukishiro, a gentle 16-year-old student at Karai High School who cannot speak and instead expresses herself through senryuu, the brief 17-syllable poems she writes with ease. Her handwritten verses become the bridge to the people around her, especially after she meets Eiji Busujima, a former middle-school delinquent who has put his rough reputation behind him and quietly developed a sincere love for senryuu.
Although Eiji still has an intimidating appearance, he is dependable and considerate, and his presence gradually turns into a source of comfort for Nanako. The two end up sharing the Literature Club, where their days are shaped by small exchanges, gestures, and poems that say more than ordinary conversation ever could. As their bond deepens, the series finds humor and warmth in the smallest details of school life, letting each interaction reveal how attentive they are to one another.
With its relaxed pace and soft humor, Senryuu Shoujo is a comforting slice-of-life story about communication, companionship, and the quiet connections that can grow between people who understand each other better than they first realize.
