Revue Starlight takes place at Seishou Music Academy, a girls-only school created to train the next generation of theatrical talent in singing, acting, and dancing. As the 99th class prepares for the annual Seishou Festival, its students ready their own performance of Starlight, the tragic tale of two goddesses drawn together by the glow of the heavens only to be separated forever, never able to meet again. Among them is 16-year-old Karen Aijou, an easygoing girl who has dreamed since childhood of standing on the stage.
Karen's passion is rekindled when her childhood friend Hikari Kagura transfers to Seishou Academy, reviving the promise they once made to become stars together. Through Hikari, Karen discovers a secret elevator that leads to a massive theater hidden beneath the school, where a talking giraffe named Kirin oversees a mysterious series of duels. In this underground arena, Karen and her classmates battle for the title of "Top Star," a distinction that grants the right to play one of the lead roles in Starlight. What begins as preparation for a school performance becomes a fierce audition shaped by rivalry, ambition, and the dream Karen still shares with Hikari.
