Rail Wars! unfolds in a parallel Japan where the national railway system remained under government control instead of being privatized. Naoto's classmates turn that training into a constant string of emergencies. The athletic Aoi Sakurai brings energy and combat ability to the team, Shou Iwaizumi is perpetually hungry but quick to leap into action, and the knowledgeable Haruka Koumi keeps everyone grounded with her expertise. Together they handle incidents ranging from purse snatchers to bomb threats, learning what it means to protect both the railways and the people who depend on them. As their duties intensify, they also collide with RJ, an extremist group seeking to privatize the railway industry.
