Nana centers on two young women who share the same name but arrive in Tokyo with very different hopes for the future. Nana Komatsu is cheerful, affectionate, and hopelessly romantic, yet her tendency to trust too easily has left her love life unsettled. Determined to hold on to her dependable boyfriend, Shouji Endo, she works to save enough money to follow him to the capital and begin a new life.
Nana Osaki, meanwhile, is a solitary punk vocalist driven by an intense desire to succeed in music. Her passionate relationship with her band's bassist, Ren Honjou, ends suddenly, leaving her heartbroken but still determined to pursue her dream of becoming a recognized artist. Rather than retreating, she heads to Tokyo with the resolve to build a future on her own terms.
An unexpected coincidence brings the two Nanas back into each other's lives, and they soon end up living under the same roof. From that point on, they become a constant presence in one another's days, offering support, blunt honesty, and a sense of stability as they navigate love, ambition, and the uncertainty of city life. Nana follows how their friendship grows alongside their struggles, making their shared apartment a small refuge in a world where both are still trying to find where they belong.
