In Nabari no Ou, Rokujou Miharu is a quiet, apathetic, yet mischievous 14-year-old who discovers that he carries Shinrabanshou, a powerful hijutsu coveted by the ninja clans hidden beneath everyday society. What looks like an ordinary school life in Nabari is really a cover for rival factions, and the moment Miharu is identified as the bearer of Shinrabanshou, he becomes a target for anyone hoping to control that shadowed world.
Miharu's classmate Kouichi Aizawa and his English teacher Thobari Durandal Kumohira are both secretly ninjas from the Banten clan, and they try to pull him into their orbit while protecting him from repeated attacks. Miharu initially wants nothing to do with their invitation to join their ninja "club," but the violence around him leaves him little choice if he wants to survive.
As the fighting intensifies, Miharu is drawn deeper into the hidden conflicts of Nabari, where loyalty, survival, and power are constantly at odds. Surrounded by allies, enemies, and competing claims to his future, he moves ever closer to the center of the struggle for the ruler of Nabari.
