In Midori no Hibi, Seiji "The Mad Dog" Sawamura is a feared high school delinquent at Sakuradamon High, a boy so intimidating that even the rumors about his supposedly demonic right hand keep other students away. After being rejected 20 times in a row, Seiji jokes that if he cannot find a girlfriend, he might as well spend the rest of high school with his right hand as his partner. The next morning, that impossible wish becomes a nightmare: the hand has turned into Midori Kasugano, a tiny girl who tells him she has loved him for the past three years.
Unable to explain the transformation or reverse it on his own, Seiji throws himself into finding a way to return Midori to normal. A misunderstanding at the Kasugano household forces them to keep the secret from everyone around them, and the absurd accident quickly becomes an uneasy partnership. As they try to survive classes, family pressure, and the complications of sharing so much of their lives at such close range, Seiji and Midori are pushed into an increasingly fragile relationship, testing each other's patience, pride, and feelings while they search for a way to separate before the truth comes out.
