Liar Liar follows Hiroto Shinohara, a new transfer student to Academy Island, where games decide student rankings and every victory adds another star to a player’s record. At the top of that hierarchy stands the coveted Seven Star rank, a status that turns the school into a battlefield of bluffing, strategy, and social pressure.
On his first day, Hiroto accidentally antagonizes Sarasa Saionji, the so-called Empress of Academy Island and granddaughter of the island’s head director. What begins as a misunderstanding spirals into a game he somehow wins, but that victory traps him in a dangerous lie: he must keep pretending his ranking is far higher than it really is or risk expulsion from the school and the island. From that point on, every challenge becomes a test of nerve, timing, and improvisation.
Fortunately, Hiroto is not alone in his bluff. The mysterious Company, headed by Shirayuki Himeji, helps him cheat his way through the game challenges sent by students eager to beat him. Though he is only a One Star student, he has to fight as if he were a Seven Star, all while searching for a missing girl from his past.
