Initial D

Initial D follows Takumi Fujiwara, a quiet high school student who spends his early mornings delivering tofu for his father’s shop along the winding roads of Mount Akina. Cars and street racing mean little to him at first; driving is simply part of the routine that gets him to school. Yet those same mountain passes have already trained his reflexes in ways he does not fully understand, and the rhythm of the road begins to shape a talent that stays hidden until the right rival appears. When the Akagi RedSuns, one of Kanto’s best-known street racing teams, come to challenge Akina, Takumi is pulled into a world of rival drivers, downhill battles, and intense attention toward the mysterious AE86 that keeps defeating stronger machines. What begins as an ordinary delivery run becomes a test of instinct, nerve, and discipline, as the mountain roads turn into arenas where technique matters more than horsepower. Across the franchise, Initial D follows Takumi’s rise through a street-racing scene defined by pride, reputation, and the split-second decisions that decide a race, while he learns how far skill and composure can take him against drivers determined to prove themselves on the same roads.
