IS: Infinite Stratos

IS: Infinite Stratos takes place in a world transformed by the Infinite Stratos (IS), an exoskeleton weapon engineered by Japan that can be piloted only by women. So overwhelming is its power that an international treaty bans its use as a military asset, turning IS training into a high-stakes path for a select few. The story follows Ichika Orimura, a 15-year-old boy who shocks the world when he is discovered to be the only male capable of steering an IS. Forced into the Infinite Stratos Academy, an all-female boarding school where students train to become IS pilots, Ichika is reunited with his childhood friends Houki Shinonono and Lingyin Huang, and soon meets Cecilia Alcott, an IS representative from the United Kingdom. Life at the academy quickly becomes a balance of friendship, rivalry, and constant training as Ichika learns to live alongside people who have spent their lives preparing for this demanding role. Under the strict guidance of Chifuyu Orimura, the legendary pilot who serves as their homeroom teacher and happens to be Ichika's older sister, the academy's students must also stand ready against the dangers that threaten their school and the world beyond it.
