Happy Sugar Life

Happy Sugar Life follows Satou Matsuzaka, a seemingly flawless high school girl whose carefully controlled routine breaks open when she meets Shio Koube, a young girl who awakens feelings Satou has never known before. Terrified that this fragile happiness will be taken away, Satou tells the people around her that she lives with her aunt while, in secret, she shares an apartment with Shio and tries to preserve a tiny private world that looks sweet and harmless from the outside. As Satou works to keep that life hidden, the contrast between her polished public image and the apartment she protects grows more painful. Her devotion to Shio slowly turns into obsession, and every attempt to defend their "happy sugar life" pushes her toward increasingly desperate and troubling choices. Beneath its oddly whimsical surface, the series builds a tense psychological atmosphere around love, secrecy, and the fantasy of a perfect life together, while the outside world feels farther away and Satou's normality becomes harder to maintain.
