Hachimitsu to Clover

Honey and Clover follows Yuuta Takemoto, a sophomore at an arts college who shares a cheap apartment with two seniors: the eccentric Shinobu Morita, who keeps failing to graduate because of his chronic absenteeism, and the sensible Takumi Mayama, a dependable upperclassman who often looks after Takemoto. Living among sketchbooks, awkward silences, and small daily victories, the three drift through campus life while trying to understand what they want from their future and from one another. Takemoto’s routine changes when he meets the endearing Hagumi Hanamoto on a spring day and falls in love at first sight. Despite her small frame, Hagumi is incredibly gifted in the arts, and when she enrolls at Takemoto’s university, she quickly becomes part of the same tangled circle. She befriends the popular pottery student Ayumi Yamada, who already knows the three flatmates and secretly harbors deep feelings for one of them. As friendships deepen and romances remain unresolved, Hachimitsu to Clover captures the confusion, tenderness, and self-discovery of youth without losing sight of the bonds that hold its cast together.
