Gantz begins with Kei Kurono making a split-second choice that costs him his life: he tries to save a homeless man from an oncoming train, only to die himself. But death is not an ending. When Kei opens his eyes again, he finds himself in a room with several other recently deceased people and a huge black sphere that calls itself Gantz. The sphere equips them with strange weapons and black suits, then sends them out on lethal missions against aliens hidden in the human world.
Forced to survive by obeying Gantz’s rules, Kei is pushed into a relentless cycle of violence and terror. He joins forces with his childhood friend Masaru Katou and an unfamiliar woman as they struggle to understand where they are, why they were chosen, and what the black sphere expects from them. Every mission tightens the pressure, turning each hunt into a test of nerve, trust, and raw instinct, where one mistake can mean death all over again.
As the battles become more brutal, Gantz unfolds as a grim fight for survival in a dark world where the boundary between life and death has already been broken.
