In Gachiakuta, the wealthy townspeople treat discarded objects as worthless, but to Rudo, a resident of the slums, every broken thing still has value. He spends his days salvaging reusable materials despite the warnings of his adoptive father, Regto, knowing that anything deemed useless can be sent to the giant disposal area called the Pit. In this world, the Pit is more than a dump: it is also a brutal form of criminal punishment, and anyone cast into it is expected to vanish forever.
That fragile balance collapses when Regto is murdered by a mysterious assailant and Rudo is falsely blamed for the crime. Thrown into the Pit, he finds himself in a wasteland of trash and horror, where monstrous beings known as Trash Beasts rise from the refuse. With poisonous air closing in and death close behind, Rudo is rescued by Enjin, a Cleaner who fights with a Vital Instrument, one of the weapons used to battle these creatures. After gaining a Vital Instrument of his own, Rudo joins the Cleaners, determined to survive the Pit, uncover the truth behind his father’s death, and find a way back.
