Death Parade is set in Quindecim, a quiet bar suspended between life and the afterlife, where pairs of the recently deceased are forced into games that reveal who they really were. Under the watch of Decim, a calm and inscrutable bartender who serves as arbiter, rounds of billiards, darts, bowling, and other contests quickly become ruthless trials, because every move can determine whether a soul will be reincarnated or cast into the void. The bar’s polished elegance only deepens the unease, turning each match into a confrontation with fear, regret, selfishness, compassion, and the instincts people carry even beyond death.
The arrival of a mysterious black-haired woman with no memory of her own unsettles Decim’s routine and pushes him to question the limits of the system he serves. As he continues to judge the dead, he begins to confront what those judgments really mean, and what value human life holds when every memory, relationship, and impulse is stripped bare under pressure. Blending psychological tension, melancholy, and bursts of violence, Death Parade turns each game into a test of character as much as fate.
