Deadman Wonderland opens when Ganta Igarashi and his classmates travel on a school field trip to the notorious prison amusement park, a place where convicts are forced to perform dangerous acts for the crowd's entertainment. The outing turns into a nightmare when a mysterious man in red massacres the entire class, leaving Ganta as the only survivor and the scapegoat for the slaughter. Framed for the crime and condemned to death, he is sent to the very prison he was supposed to visit.
