Corpse Princess centers on Ouri Kagami, an orphan who lives at a shrine with other children and has grown up surrounded by death and corpses. His quiet life changes when he witnesses Keisei Tagami, the patron of the orphanage, seemingly bring back to life the scarred body of schoolgirl Makina Hoshimura. Makina is not an ordinary living girl, but a Shikabane Hime: an undead warrior bound to hunt other Shikabane, creatures that threaten ordinary society.
As Ouri is drawn deeper into Makina's strange existence, he keeps crossing paths with her in moments shaped by violence, secrecy, and the unnatural rules that govern the Shikabane world. What begins as shock and curiosity slowly turns into a fragile connection, while the mystery around Makina's condition, Keisei's role, and the hidden structure behind these undead beings becomes impossible to ignore. Corpse Princess gradually turns Ouri's everyday life at the shrine into a struggle linking the living, the dead, and the secrets at the heart of the Shikabane world, where survival depends on understanding the line between humanity and the undead.
