In Asura Cryin', Tomoharu Natsume seems like an ordinary high-school student, except for one impossible detail: he is constantly followed by the ghost of his best friend, Misao Minakami. After moving into his older brother's old house, Tomoharu expects to settle into a normal routine, but that hope collapses when he is left with a mysterious locked briefcase and no instructions at all. He initially plans to put it away in storage and ignore it, only for multiple groups to invade his home in pursuit of the case. Without even knowing what it contains or why it matters, Tomoharu and Misao are forced to flee with it.
As the attacks continue, Tomoharu becomes entangled in the secrets surrounding the briefcase, its connection to Misao, and the reason it holds the power to change the world. Figures such as Kanade Takatsuki draw him further into a conflict that turns his everyday life into a chain of supernatural confrontations and hidden agendas. Blending school drama, occult mystery, and action, the series follows Tomoharu as he tries to understand the forces gathering around him and the truth behind the case that has thrown his life off balance.
