Asu no Yoichi! follows Yoichi Karasuma, a boy who has spent his entire life in the mountains training under his father in the Soaring Wind, Divine Wind swordsmanship style. By the time he turns 17, he has already mastered the technique, and his secluded life leaves him with almost nothing else to learn. To help him continue growing and to show him the world beyond the mountains, his father sends him to a dojo in the city.
There, Yoichi must face a world far removed from the strict discipline and etiquette of the samurai way. Accustomed to traditional clothing and manners, he has no idea how to speak or behave in modern society, and his earnest, old-fashioned attitude keeps leading to awkward misunderstandings. Living with the Ikaruga sisters at the dojo, he struggles to adapt to city life, learn how to interact with others, and gradually become part of his new family. Asu no Yoichi! blends martial-arts action and comedy while following Yoichi as he tries to balance his samurai training with the very different rules of the present day.
