Apocalypse Hotel is set in the year 2157 at Gingarou Hotel, a luxury establishment in Ginza, Tokyo, where advanced hotelier robots still provide best-in-class hospitality long after civilization has collapsed. No one has visited the hotel in decades, as humanity abandoned Earth when its atmosphere became toxic, leaving the city and its once-bustling district to silence. Even so, the hotel continues to operate as if the next check-in might arrive at any moment.
At the center of this routine is Yachiyo, the robot "acting acting manager," who works tirelessly every day alongside her mechanical crew to keep the hotel in tip-top shape. Over the years, many employees have ceased functioning, with no hope of repair or replacement, and each passing day makes the surviving staff feel more like caretakers of a vanished world. Other figures around the hotel include Ponko, Doorman Robo, Kankyou Check Robo, and the absent Owner whose final promise still guides Yachiyo's work. She continues to fulfill her duties exactly as she vowed before the owner's departure, holding onto the hope that humanity will one day return to Earth—and that she will see the owner again.
