Peace Sign (ピースサイン)

Kenshi Yonezu’s “Peace Sign (ピースサイン)” is the opening theme for the first cour of My Hero Academia’s second season. It accompanies the point where Izuku Midoriya and his classmates move beyond their introduction at U.A. and must show how much they have grown in front of rivals and professional heroes. Fast guitars, firm drums, and an upward-driving melody create the feeling of a continuous race. Yonezu’s voice retains a slight roughness even when the chorus opens up, keeping its determination from sounding effortless or blindly triumphant. The “peace sign” works both as a memory of an admired figure and as a promise to move forward despite fear. That balance of vulnerability and momentum suits Deku: he has not yet become the hero he imagines, but he chooses to advance and gradually turn admiration into an identity of his own.
