Biography
Yuuko Gotou (後藤邑子), born August 28, 1975 in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, is a Japanese voice actress (seiyuu) known for anime and visual novel roles. She formerly worked for Production Baobab, has been associated with Lantis, and also uses the names Ryūmi Yanai (柳井 流海), Shino Kujou (九条 信乃), and Kikuko Mita (三田 菊子), with Shino Kujou used specifically for visual novels. Her height is 160 cm.
Gotou is widely recognized for moe-leaning characters, but anime fans also know her for the strong biker identity she presents off screen. She is a devotee of biker culture who dresses and acts that way when not working, right down to her motorcycle, and that contrast was famously parodied in episode 23 of Lucky Star, where she appears as a masculine bousouzoku-styled caricature of herself called Gottouuza-sama. Her nicknames include Gotouza-sama and Murako, and her hobbies are motorcycle riding, reading, traveling, and drinking. Her blood type is O, and she likes Fist of the North Star; her favorite character is Souther, which led to the Lucky Star pseudonym Gosouther-sama/Gotouza-sama, a nickname given to her by Tomokazu Sugita.
In June 2012, Gotou was reported to be suffering from a rare autoimmune disease, and she stepped away from work for an undetermined period to focus on her health. At that time, she was under her mother’s care, and an Ameblo blog plus an Axl One profile were listed online. In February 2026, she reunited with the SOS Brigade voice cast for a revival screening stage greeting for The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya, adding another notable appearance to her long-running career.
