Wino (stylized as WINO and pronounced “wine-oh”) is a Japanese rock band that was originally active from 1995 to 2002 and reunited in 2024. Formed in September 1995 by students at Meiji Gakuin University, the group first performed as ボグ・マイトルスター (bogu maitorusuta) and adopted the name WINO in March 1996. Led by vocalist Jun Yoshimura, the band released independent material before making its major-label debut on Speedstar Records in 1998.
In the late 1990s and early 2000s, Wino released "Useless Music" (1999), "WINO" (1999), "Dirge.No9" (2001), and "EVERLAST" (2002). The band also appeared at Fuji Rock Festival in 1999. In anime, Wino is best known for "Taiyou wa Yoru mo Kagayaku (太陽は夜も輝く)" ("The Sun Also Shines at Night"), the second opening theme for Hunter x Hunter and the band's highest-charting single.
After completing the tour for "EVERLAST", Wino disbanded on November 22, 2002. The band later resumed activities in 2024.
