Utsu-P (鬱P, lit. Depression-P) is a Japanese producer from Nagoya, Japan, born on December 1, 1990. Best known for metal VOCALOID songs, he works in a style shaped by metal, alternative metal, and melodic metalcore, combining aggressive arrangement work with the expressive possibilities of synthetic vocals.
At the beginning of his career, his songs exclusively featured Miku, but he later began using Rin and GUMI as well. That broader vocal palette gave him more room to shape tense, aggressive tracks while keeping the core identity of his production intact. He is particularly known for making VOCALOIDs perform shouts, screams, and grunts through filters and effects, turning programmed voices into instruments capable of extreme metal textures. His melodies generally feature a heavy bass line, which adds weight and momentum to the songs. Beyond the instrumentation, Utsu-P's lyrics are often complex, and their hidden meaning can be difficult to grasp at first glance.
